Re-Elect
Bruce Anderson
for Clawson City Council
Welcome!
In 1996 my wife and I moved our family to Clawson. We have found Clawson to be a great place to live. The Clawson motto “little city with the big heart” sounds corny when you first hear it - but it really is true. Our children have been educated in the Clawson Schools (K-12 for all three of them). The city services had been good. The city government had run smoothly and effectively. I saw no need to get directly involved with the city government until four years ago. I was elected to restore order from the disorder of 2019-2021.
From 2019-2021, there was significant disorder in the City:
Four City Managers
Five City Clerks
A mayor who resigns, and then managed to make a “come back” 4 weeks later.
No progress on infrastructure
Since I was elected in 2021, we have had:
A City Manager that has served the last 3.5 years
A City Clerk that has served the last 2 years
A Mayor that stays on the job for 4 years
A Voter-approved infrastructure plan that is already showing results
As a 25-year resident of Clawson, my family and I are heavily invested in the city. I am running for re-election to maintain the progress that has occurred in the last four years.
As an engineer in the automotive industry for the last 33 years, I am familiar with problem solving both as an individual and in working as part of a team.
My top 3 Priorities
-
Maintain a positive working relationship with the City manager
The City is not run by the City Council. The day-to-day operations (Police, Fire Dept, DPW) are run by the City manager.
The City Council provides oversight, approves/denies budgets, and guides overall policy.
The previous 3.5 years under the current City Manager have brought about much improved stability, and improved services. This needs to continue.
-
Maintain Infrastructure Improvements
The voters of Clawson approved a 64 million dollar infrastructure bond millage.
The current plan consists of 37 high priority projects.
This is a multi-year project that will require some level of modifications over time.
Successful implementation of this plan will require consistent management.
-
Continued co-operation with the Clawson School District
Clawson is unique in that the boundaries of the city and the school district are exactly the same.
By comparison, Troy is covered by 7 school districts (Troy, Royal Oak, Birmingham, Warren, Lamphere, Bloomfield Hills, Avondale).
This allows co-operation between the city government and the school board by sharing resources.
This co-operation has been promoted by the current City Manager, and needs to continue.
As a candidate for Clawson City Council,
I am asking for your vote on November 4th.
I support the following:
Paula Millan For Mayor (4 yrs)
Glen Shepard for City Council (4 yrs)
Scott TInlin for city council (4 yrs)
Richard Scott for City Council (2 Yrs)
Let’s connect.
